Help Clean Up Beaches In Ocean City

By Veronica Flesher, Patch Staff

Clean Ocean Action is seeking volunteers for its “Fall Beach Sweeps” held on Oct. 22.

Twice a year, thousands of volunteers head to more than 70 locations to join COA in helping to clean up New Jersey’s shoreline. In 2021, COA picked up a record of more than 500,000 items during sweeps, according to their data.

Those interested in volunteering must register online ahead of time. The sweeps are held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cleanups are held rain or shine. Volunteers are asked to bring a repurposed bucket, bag or other trash receptacle. Wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes, bring clothes and dress appropriately.

Fall Beach Sweeps are held in Ocean City at Ocean City Music Pier.

For more information, head to the Beach Sweeps page on the COA website.
