Theatre Company Stages ‘Holiday Spectacular’

Admission Buttons on Sale for First Night Ocean City

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OCEAN CITY: 

The Ocean City Music Pier stage will light up with the sights and sounds of the season as the Ocean City Theatre Company gives four performances of “Swingin’ Into the Holidays: Ocean City’s Holiday Spectacular” this weekend. Tickets are on sale now for the annual holiday show.

The cast of professional singers and dancers will present a family–oriented, song-and-dance tribute to the holidays, directed and choreographed by Elizabeth Worley and Michael Hartman. Through dazzling costumes, familiar songs, special guests, toe-tapping numbers and special effects, this extravaganza will kindle the holiday spirit. Performances will be:

  • 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10
  • 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11
  • 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec 12

The production will be staged at the Music Pier (Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk) with free parking nearby. Admission is $18 for adults and $15 for kids under 12. Purchase at oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice, by calling 609-399-6111, or in-person at the City Hall Welcome Center (9th Street and Asbury Avenue) or the Roy Gillian Welcome Center (on the causeway leading to Ninth Street).

ADMISSION BUTTONS ON SALE FOR FIRST NIGHT OCNJ:

Come celebrate a family-friendly New Year’s Eve in Ocean City, N.J. First Night offers more than 70 opportunities to catch 30 different shows and activities at 21 venues throughout town. You will find entertainment that satisfies every taste and age group.

First Night was founded 29 years ago and modeled after an alcohol-free New Year’s Eve celebration in Boston that marked the nation’s bicentennial in 1976. The first celebration in Ocean City included 25 entertainment acts at five different locations with about 800 people attending. While other First Night events have faded, Ocean City’s has only grown more popular with families making it an annual tradition for a safe New Year’s Eve. Today, attendance is capped at 10,000 with admission buttons selling out year after year.

Elf: The Musical Jr. (Dec. 17-18): The Ocean City Theatre Company Junior Company will perform a musical based on the beloved holiday comedy film. (Please be advised that cast members may be wearing transparent face coverings during the performance.) Show times are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17, and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Ocean City Music Pier. First Night (Dec. 31): Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the family in Ocean City. The annual event features more than 70 shows and activities and venues throughout town. First Day Shopping Extravaganza (Jan. 1): Welcome the New Year by shopping for tremendous bargains in downtown Ocean City, Asbury Avenue from Sixth Street to 14th Street. For more information, call 1-800-BEACH-NJ.

First Day Boardwalk 5K (Jan. 1): Race starts at 1 p.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier. Pre-register at ocnj.us/race-events. Race-day registration opens at 11 a.m. at the Music Pier.

First Day at the Beach (Jan. 1): Featuring Ocean City’s first dip in the ocean for the New Year at 2 p.m. On the beach adjacent to the Music Pier. For more information, call 1-800-BEACH-NJ.
