Ocean City PD Does No-Shave November To Battle Cancer

By Josh Bakan, Patch Staff

The Ocean City Police Department will grow their facial hair for a cause. Police departments around Cape May County are participating in No-Shave November (and December) to raise funds for battling cancer.

Departments around the county are raising money for two individuals: Amber Adoranto and Jennifer Higginbottom.

Adoranto, 32, is a 911 dispatcher for the Ocean City Police Department. She has worked for OCPD for 10 years and was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Adoranto is undergoing chemotherapy.

Higginbottom, 34, is married to a Middletown police sergeant and is the mother of two young boys. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and will be undergoing a double mastectomy, followed by chemotherapy.

Because of success from previous fundraisers, Chief Jay Prettyman extended the no-shave efforts through December.

At the end of November, the Police Benevolent Association will present a check to the Chiefs of Police Association for both women.

Donations can be mailed to PBA Local 61 c/o No-Shave Campaign 2019, P.O. Box 293 Ocean City, NJ or dropped off at the police station at 835 Central Ave.
