Celebrate Independence Day In Ocean City: Monday Manual

Freedom rings in Ocean City this week with a plethora of Independence Day events and more going on.

Welcome to the July 1 edition of the Monday Manual, highlighting important and fun events in Ocean City.

Here’s what’s in store this week:

Monday, July 1

City Council holds its annual reorganization meeting at 12 p.m. at Ocean City Music Pier. Members elected during May will be sworn in.

Killer Queen, the tribute to legendary rock band Queen, performs at Ocean City Music Pier at 7 p.m. Get tickets here.

Tuesday, July 2

Beach walks return at 59th St. & Central Ave. (entrance to Corson’s Inlet State Park) every Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Enjoy Ocean City Theatre Company’s production of “Garfield! The Musical With Cattitude!” at 10:30 a.m. at Ocean City Music Pier. Learn more here.

Wednesday, July 3

The farmers market returns to the Ocean City Tabernacle grounds from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Start the day off with beach Pilates on 6th Street Beach Volleyball Courts. It’s free; just bring a towel.

Wacky Wednesday is back with an American classic – a pie-eating contest! Chow down at Music Pier at 10:30 a.m. on apple and cherry pies. No hands allowed! The contest is free and open to all ages.

Beach walks return at 59th St. & Central Ave. (entrance to Corson’s Inlet State Park) every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Bring a beach chair or blanket (plus seating in the bleachers) to Carey Stadium at 8 p.m. as the Ocean City Pops play patriotic classics and audience favorites.

Thursday, July 4

Meet at Longport Bridge Parking Lot, 40th and Asbury and Rosemar Lane Park for bike parades. The first two meet at 9 a.m.; Rosemar Lane Park meets at 11 a.m.

The 4th Annual Spike For Her Fundraising Event at 1 p.m. on 15th Street Beach raises funds and awareness for breast cancer.

Bring a beach chair or blanket (plus seating in the bleachers) to Carey Stadium at 8 p.m. as the Ocean City Pops play patriotic classics and audience favorites.

A kite flying competition kicks off the Independence Day celebrations at 7 p.m. on 9th Street Beach and is followed by entertainment on the beach next to Music Pier. A fireworks display caps everything off at 9 p.m.

Friday, July 5

Start the day off with a low-impact beach exercise on 6th Street Beach Volleyball Courts. It’s free; just bring a towel.
