Gordon Lightfoot to Perform in Summer Concert Series

By MediaWize, OCNJDaily

Ocean City announced Tuesday that Gordon Lightfoot will perform a concert on July 18 as part of the 28th season of the Music Pier Summer Concert Series.

Tickets go on sale Thursday with a special pre-sale on Wednesday.

The legendary singer-songwriter’s catalog includes classics like “Early Morning Rain,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Carefree Highway,” Sundown,” “That’s What You Get for Lovin’ Me,” “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,” “Canadian Railroad Trilogy,” “Ribbon of Darkness,” “Beautiful,” “Song for a Winter’s Night” and “Rainy Day People.”

After more than 50 years of performing, Lightfoot will launch a cross-country tour to promote his first new record in 14 years, “Gordon Lightfoot — Solo.” A documentary film, “Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind,” was released in 2019.

The concert tour will feature his classic hits, as well as some deep cuts for diehard fans. The songs will be woven together by Lightfoot’s behind-the-scenes stories and personal anecdotes from his musical career.

The show is presented by the City of Ocean City and the series is co-produced by BRE Presents and Rose Productions.

For tickets, visit starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24. A special pre-sale (use code BRE) will be held 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23. The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 18 at the Ocean City Music Pier.

Entries are open for contestants in the Mr. Mature America Pageant on April 9.

Mr. Mature celebrates the achievements of men 55 years and older. The pageant, now in its eighth year, mixes talent, good looks and self-deprecating humor. The Ocean City Music Pier crowd is raucous and appreciative as the contestants ham it up on stage, competing in talent, poise and interview segments.

If you have what it takes to be the world’s next “Mr. Mature” (or if you can talk somebody into it), complete the online entry form available at or email for more information. Deadline for sign-ups is March 10.

The event is the first and only pageant of its kind in the United States. Ocean City’s Jack Merritt has held the crown since 2019, the last time the pageant was able to be held.
